God’s Dream For Us: What’s Environment Got to Do With Justice?

Presented by Sr. Shell (Michelle) Balek, OSF
November 2002

Environmental issues are constantly in the news todayWhy is it important for us as Catholics to be concerned and involved? What are some things we can do individually and as a parish?

Sr. Shell provided a Catholic scriptural perspective to creation and justice issues as well as an overview of related Catholic Social Teaching principles and a brief look at some recent Catholic statements on the environment.

Building on this foundation, participants were invited to explore some environmental justice issues, especially those impacting our own locale.

The seminar was given by Sr. Michelle (Shell) Balek, OSF (Franciscan), North American Region Coordinator for Franciscans International, Milwaukee, WI which works in the general areas of Care of Creation, Concern for the Poor, and Peacemaking.
